This guy. Some of you know me well and have seen/heard me via Skype/other forms of digital communication. (Or in person. If your name is Dr. Betchkote. )|
Otherwise, to those that may not, I am THE infamously eccentric resident of Koloradoland (Colorado, USA), as well as the owner, operator, and complete shareholder (all 6 million shares, and none of YOU own them), of the
Salida, Montrose, Pueblo & Greeley Railroad Company of Colorado .
The SMPG RR, forming a backwards-L backbone of steel rail across Colorado, connects Salida, Montrose, Pueblo, Greeley, Denver, and all towns in between, and is the lifeline of Industrial and Commercial freight movement across Colorado; amongst the Class Is of modern day, and hundreds of major and minor rail lines of the past. Hosting a complete roster of Green, White and Brass-clad Steam Locomotives, running the gamut of size and style, and constructed with a literal design pedigree of overbuilding; We thoroughly believe and follow the practice furthered by the eastern Mystic River Traction Company of preservation, a no-scrap policy, and when applicable, upgrading and modernization of equipment with the latest technology available to us. Besides the preservation and upgrade efforts, all locomotives, rolling stock, and equipment designed and rolled out of the shops have notable reliability and service life, and in many cases, are larger and considerably different from the norm of standard American railroad practices. Things like usage of the finest metallurgy and stronger/more efficient material in construction and maintenance of rolling stock, trackage and structures, help maintain fluid, reliable and timely operations on a day-to-day basis on our railroad.
While quality demands considerable expenditures, we pride ourselves with large re-investments into our company, as they are for the future of our railroad and its operation, and the people who make it work and serve the rest of the world and its economy by rail.
