Old Rail

Of D&RGW heritage, with lengths of rail dating from 1917 and old ties, plates, and spikes in varying levels of disarray and wear, the trackage of this former passing siding sees very little use, aside from occasional storage of motive power for helper service.

Nearly 100 years old and sporting fishplates holding it all together, I found myself glimpsing a century-long comparison between new and old rail, with BNSF SD70MAC #9641 seeming out of place on the older, lighter track.
